The challenge
Katie Hailey teaches yoga and sound healing and runs retreats and events, and her website design was already done, sitting in Figma. That's where a lot of projects stall: a finished design doesn't take a single booking, and the usual routes from file to live site are a slow dev quote or a rebuild into whatever a template allows.
The brief was to close that gap without compromising either side of it: build the design as designed, get it live fast, and leave behind a site Katie runs herself, because a solo practitioner shouldn't need a developer on call to update a class schedule.
Approach
The design as designed
A build from someone else's design file is a discipline of its own: the job is fidelity, not reinterpretation. The Figma file was treated as the contract, and the Wix Studio build matches it, responsive behavior included, rather than bending the design toward whatever would have been quickest to assemble.
Bookings without a booking stack
Classes, retreats, and events book through Wix Events, native to the platform the site already runs on. No third-party booking widget bolted on, no separate subscription to manage, and every booking lands in the same CRM the rest of the site feeds.
Handed over, not held hostage
Self-maintenance was scoped as a deliverable, not left as an afterthought. The build includes dedicated handoff sections Katie edits directly, a CMS structured around the content she actually changes, and a CRM that collects enquiries and attendees in one place. The honest trade-off of building this way: it takes longer than locking everything down, and it's the reason the engagement ends with the client needing us less, not more.
