Wix Studio plans run from US$12 to US$149 a month, and a professionally built site starts at €1,750. The plan is the small, predictable part. Here is what actually decides the number.

A Wix Studio website has two separate costs, and most people only price one of them. The platform plan runs from US$12 a month for Wix Studio Basic to US$149 a month for Elite. A professionally designed and built site is a separate one-off project cost, and at Zenith Digital that starts at €1,750.

The plan is the smallest and most predictable line in the whole thing. What moves the number is how many pages need designing, how much of your content has to be structured into a CMS, and who writes the copy. This article covers both numbers, the running costs underneath them, and how to work out which plan you actually need.

Wix Studio pricing at a glance

The short answers, all verified against Wix's own documentation on 20 August 2026:

  • The platform: US$12 to US$149 a month depending on plan, in US list prices. Most business sites sit between US$12 and US$32.

  • The build: A separate one-off project cost. Zenith Digital builds start at €1,750 fixed, or €3,750 with a CMS and full copywriting.

  • Taking payments: Standard and above. Wix Studio's Basic plan cannot accept payments.

  • Choosing a plan: Decided by CMS item count and whether you take payments, not by storage.

  • The costs people forget: Domain renewal from year two, payment processing, and any paid apps the site actually needs.

  • DIY or hire: A five-page brochure with written copy is a reasonable weekend project. A CMS, a store or existing organic traffic is where help pays for itself.

Who this is for

This article is written for:

  • Business owners pricing a new site: You want a realistic total before you talk to anyone, not a range that spans an order of magnitude.

  • Anyone comparing Wix Studio to Webflow or WordPress on cost: The plan price is only one line of the comparison, and rarely the one that decides it.

  • People already on Wix deciding which plan to buy: Two things decide the tier for most business sites, and storage is rarely the one people expect.

What does a Wix Studio plan cost?

Wix Studio has four paid site plans and a quote-only Enterprise tier. Verified against Wix's own Studio pricing page on 20 August 2026, in US dollars: Basic is US$12 a month, Standard US$20, Plus US$32 and Elite US$149. Building the site costs nothing. You pay when you connect a custom domain and publish.

One caveat before you budget from that table. Wix states that Premium plan prices may differ depending on your geographic location, so the figure you see from the UK or the EU may not match the US list price. Check your own account before committing to a number.

Most people budget annually rather than monthly, so at US list prices that is US$144 a year on Basic, US$240 on Standard, US$384 on Plus and US$1,788 on Elite, before any regional difference, tax or promotion. Against a build that starts in the thousands, the plan is a rounding error on year one and only starts to matter across several years.

Which Wix Studio plan do you actually need?

Two questions settle it for most business sites, and neither is storage. First, whether the site takes money: Wix Studio's Basic plan cannot accept payments, so any Wix Studio site that sells anything starts at Standard. Second, how many CMS items the site holds. Above the payments line, the tier is mostly a CMS quota decision.

Call it the CMS item test. Before you pick a plan, count the rows your content will occupy rather than the pages you expect to build.

How the test works:

  • One CMS item is one row, not one page: A 40-page brochure site running off three small collections might hold 200 items. A property or directory site with 5,000 listings holds 5,000.

  • The jump that matters is Standard to Plus: Standard allows 4,000 CMS items and Plus allows 20,000. A content-led site outgrows 4,000 faster than most people expect once every service, location and post is an item.

  • Storage almost never decides it: For most of the business sites we scope, storage isn't what decides the plan. 10 GB on Basic holds a large amount of properly compressed imagery, so if storage is driving your choice it's worth checking the CMS count first.

What does it cost to have a Wix Studio site built?

At Zenith Digital a Wix Studio build starts at €1,750 as a fixed price, and a larger build with a CMS, integrations and full SEO and copywriting is €3,750. Both numbers are published on our pricing section rather than quoted on request, which is still unusual in this market and worth asking any agency about before a call.

What actually moves the build cost

Page count is the number everyone asks about and the weakest predictor of what a site costs. Four things move it more.

In rough order of impact:

  • How much of the content repeats: Twenty service pages built by hand cost far more than twenty built from one CMS collection and one layout. Structure is where the money is saved, and it is decided before any design work starts.

  • Who writes the copy: A site where the client supplies finished copy is a different project from one where it has to be researched and written. This is the single most common reason a quote and a final invoice disagree.

  • Integrations and automations: A booking system, a CRM handoff or a payment flow each add scope. Wix covers most of them natively, which is cheaper than building them, but they still need configuring and testing.

  • Whether it is a build or a migration: Moving an existing site carries work a new build does not: URL inventory, redirect mapping and metadata parity. That is priced separately and covered on our migration pages.

Worth knowing what the upper end of native Wix Studio can absorb before a custom budget becomes necessary. The Yacht Junky case study is a multi-seller marketplace with filtered search, seller notifications and enquiry routing, built natively rather than as a custom development project. The usual quote for that shape of build is months of development time.

What should you budget for your kind of site?

Four shapes of project, with the plan they typically need and the build tier they usually land in. These are illustrative profiles rather than quotes, and the build figures are Zenith Digital's published prices.

Store or bookingsStandard or PlusUS$240 to US$384Scoped per projectPayment processing on every sale
Typical budgets by site type. Plan prices are Wix US list; build prices are Zenith Digital's published tiers.

The pattern across all four: the plan barely moves, and the build moves a lot. That is the whole argument of this article in one table. If you are comparing Wix Studio against another platform on the monthly subscription alone, you are comparing the line that matters least.

The costs that are neither the plan nor the build

Three running costs sit underneath every Wix Studio site and none of them appears on a plan comparison table. The third one is regional, and most articles about Wix pricing quote the US figure as though it applies everywhere.

Budget for these from year one:

  • Your domain, after the first year: Wix's free domain voucher applies only to the first purchase of a yearly or multi-year plan, expires two months after the plan is bought, and does not apply to renewals or upgrades. From year two you pay the standard renewal price for that extension.

  • Paid apps, if you need them: Most business functionality is native, but analytics, multilingual and some marketing tools have paid tiers. Price the specific ones your site needs rather than assuming either extreme.

  • Payment processing, which depends where you are: Wix Payments charges 1.9% plus €0.30 per transaction in the EU, 2.1% plus £0.20 in the UK, and 2.9% plus $0.30 in the US. A European business running the same store pays a materially lower rate than the US figure most comparison articles quote.

Those are payment processing fees, documented in Wix's transaction fee article. Those are processing fees rather than a percentage-of-sales platform commission, which is a distinction worth knowing when you see the claim that Wix takes a cut of your revenue. Fees and terms change, so check the current rates for your own country before you budget from them.

Can you build a Wix Studio site yourself?

For a small site, yes, and the honest answer is that plenty of people should. Wix Studio is free to build in, and you only pay when you publish. If the site is five pages, the content is written and nothing repeats, the platform will not be what stops you.

Where it turns:

  • DIY is reasonable when: The site is a small brochure, you have the copy, there is no store or booking flow, and nothing about the content repeats enough to need a CMS.

  • Professional help earns its cost when: You need CMS collections modelled properly, the site has to rank for specific terms, there is a store or a members area, or you are replacing a site that already gets organic traffic.

  • The reliable signal: If you cannot name the collections your content should live in, that is the part worth handing over. A Wix Studio site with an empty CMS is a more expensive version of a site you could have built anywhere.

When a Wix Studio site is the wrong spend

Three situations where we would tell you not to spend the money, and one of them costs us the work.

Think twice when:

  • What you are building is an application: If the product holds state, runs real logic, or shows every user something different, a marketing platform is the wrong host and the cheaper-looking option becomes expensive.

  • Your current site works and simply needs content: A rebuild will not fix a site that ranks badly because it has nothing to rank for. Writing the pages is cheaper and usually more effective than replacing the site around them.

  • You need a plugin ecosystem you already depend on: If a specific WordPress plugin is the reason the business functions, that is a genuine argument for staying where you are.

The takeaway

Budget the plan at US$12 to US$32 a month for most small and mid-sized business sites, with Plus, Elite or Enterprise for high-volume or content-heavy builds. Add the domain renewal from year two, and processing fees if you take payments. Then treat the build as the real number, because it is. Decide the plan with the CMS item test and the payments question, and decide the build by how much of your content repeats and who is writing it. If you want that scoped properly, our Wix Studio development service covers the CMS modelling and custom functionality side, and the Wix Studio website design service covers the build itself.

Building on Wix Studio is free. Wix documents that creating a website on Wix Studio costs nothing, and that upgrading a site with a plan is what gives it a custom domain and removes Studio branding. So you can design and build the whole site before paying anything, and the plan starts when you publish to a real domain.

Standard, at US$20 a month, is the cheapest Wix Studio plan that accepts payments. Basic at US$12 does not, which catches people who assume the entry plan covers a small shop. If the site needs to take money at any point, start at Standard rather than upgrading later.

Not necessarily, and the plans are structured differently. Wix's consumer Premium plans run from US$17 a month for Light to US$159 for Business Elite, while Wix Studio plans start lower at US$12 and top out at US$149. Studio plans are sold per client site and are built around CMS quotas and collaborators rather than consumer marketing features.

At Zenith Digital, from €1,750 for a five-page fixed-price build and €3,750 for a twelve-page build with a CMS, integrations and full SEO and copywriting. Wider market pricing varies enormously, largely because agencies scope copywriting and CMS structure differently. Ask any quote what it assumes about who writes the content.

Yes. Wix Studio plans are assigned per site, so each published client site carries its own plan. Building is free and unlimited, so an agency can have many sites in progress and only pay for the ones that are live on a custom domain.
